Well trained bomb sniffing dogs deployed in airport security and on the entrance ramps of departing airline flights would make it very hard to sneak explosives on board airplanes.
Roving K-9 explosive detection teams are much less invasive and less expensive than full body scanning machines and they add a powerful human component.
Terrorists could never be sure what the dogs would sniff and they would tend to give themselves away with nervousness and / or with covering odors.
Coupled with politically incorrect profiling and some common sense - how many international travelers check no bags - K-9 explosive searches are a relatively inexpensive, effective solution that could be deployed fairly quickly.
Don't pat the dogs, and don't let the TSA pat down fliers!
